Liverpool and Everton could be in danger of seeing another Merseyside derby postponed due to stormy weather conditions in the United Kingdom. The Reds and Toffees had to reschedule one of their meetings in the 2024-25 campaign, with questions being asked of whether their latest clash – scheduled to take place at Anfield on Saturday – will go ahead as planned.
An eagerly-anticipated tie between two local neighbours that was due to take place on December 7, 2024 had to be rearranged as Storm Darragh battered the UK. Said fixture eventually went ahead on February 12, 2025.

Previous Merseyside derby had to be rescheduled
That was the last derby to be played at Goodison Park, with Everton having moved into their stunning new Hill Dickinson Stadium home. They are due to make a short trip back to familiar surroundings close to Stanley Park on September 20.
Weather warnings in place this weekend
More weather warnings are, however, in place ahead of that game. The Met Office has confirmed a number of yellow alerts. Liverpool is one of the areas affected, with there considered to be a slight chance of power cuts and localised flooding.

Supporter safety must be taken into account
Such disruption would lead to more travel issues on Merseyside, meaning that supporter safety has to be factored into the equation. The warnings in place are due to last from 9am on Saturday to 6am on Sunday.
